Urologic Surgery Using the Intestinal Segments


Abstract
A clinical observation on 27 patients of urologic surgery using the intestinal segment was made on who had been admitted to the Department of Urology, Chungnam National University Hospital from 1976 to 1981.
The results were summerized as follows :
1. Of 27 cases of urologic surgery using the intestinal segment, 17 cases were ureteroileocutaneostomy with total cystectomy, 6 cases were ureteroileocutaneostomy, 3 cases were ureterocolocutaneostomy with total cystectomy and 1 was augmented ileocecocystoplasty.
2. 66. 7% was fifth and sixth decades of age and the male to female ratio was 3 to 1.
3. The most common underlying disease was bladder cancer(74. 1%).
4. There was no statistical significance(p>0.05) to ligate hypogastric arteries to decrease operation time, amount of transfusion and postoperative hospital stay in ureteroileocutaneostomy with total cystectomy groups.
5. Major postoperative complication were acute renal failure, septicemia, wound disruption, bleeding, hematemesis, fecal fistula, urine leakage, ileus and eviceration in order.
6. Operation mortality was 11. 1%, especially it was greater in bladder cancer group. 1 year, 2 year and 3 year survival rates were 77. 8%, 65. 0%, and 50. 0% respectively.
